Turns Out Sarah Paulson Won't Appear in 'American Horror Story: 1984'

Tuesday Oct 22, 2019

After appearing in every single season of FX's anthology series "American Horror Story," Sarah Paulson revealed last week she won't pop up in the currently-airing ninth season "AHS: 1984," despite suggesting she would.

During the 2019 New Yorker Festival on Saturday, Paulson spoke about a number of her roles and upcoming projects, like Ryan Murphy's Netflix show "Ratched" and "Impeachment: American Crime Story." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paulson confirmed during her panel that she will not appear nor have a cameo in "AHS: 1984."

Earlier this fall, the "Ocean's 8" star hinted that she wouldn't star in the new season of the horror series but would have a much smaller role, later saying she might "pop up" in the season.

"It's a little bittersweet because I have a lot of friends who are still on the show," she told "Entertainment Tonight" at time. "So I'm getting updates about how it's all going and what they're doing, and I'm like, 'Wait, what? You worked until two? Oh, I remember working until two on that show.'"

And then I'm also very glad that I can wake up at a decent hour because I'm not cross-eyed from having worked insane nights," Paulson continued. "But, it'll be hard. I'll be watching and cheering everybody on. I'm really excited for this season. I think it's a really cool idea for the show this year.

"And you never know, I may pop up. You never know. No promises though," she added.

In addition to Paulson, Evan Peters, who also appeared in every season of "AHS," is sitting out "AHS: 1984," which stars Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gus Kenworthy, Leslie Grossman, Cody Fern, Matthew Morrison, Angelica Ross, John Carroll Lynch and more.
