Man Arrested in Murder of Dallas-Area Drag Queen Bianca Starr

Thursday Dec 14, 2017

Police in Fort Worth, Texas arrested a man in connection to the murder of a Dallas-area drag queen, NBC's Dallas Fort Worth affilate station KXAS-TV reports.

Fayaka Dunbar, 26, was charged with capital murder for the shooting death of Jason Bradley, 35, also known as Bianca Starr.

Bradley was shot at home, near Texas Christian University, on Dec. 8 in what police spokesperson Tracy Carter called a "possible robbery gone bad." Police also said Bradley and Dunbar met on social media.

Bradley's roommate, Eric Watson, 36, who performs under the name London Starr, was shot and critically wounded, the news station reports. Dunbar faces aggravated assault in connection to Watson's shooting.

Performing as Bianca Starr, Bradley held shows at the Rainbow Lounge in Fort Worth and was named Miss Dallas Pride 2017 and Miss Texas State at Large 2017. Miss Dallas Pride organizer Alex Lopez Reyes took to Facebook last week to react to Bradley's death.

Friends and colleagues have been mourning Bradley's death.

"Bianca was an amazing person," Blaise Gordon, fellow drag queen who performs as Gemini Brooks, told Patch. "I met Bianca when she decided to run for Miss Gay Texas State at Large, and we became close so fast.

"I ended up crowning her the year I stepped down; that will be a memory I will cherish forever," Gordon added. "She had a personality that would light up any room. Our sisterhood definitely suffered a great loss but gained an extraordinary angel."
