Orange County Pride is YOU!

Although it still lacks a parade (not that every Pride gathering necessarily needs a parade), O.C. Pride's sixth annual event on Saturday, August 9 will once again encompass an entire city block.

Performers, vendors, speakers and attendees will converge along 4th Street between Broadway and Ross in downtown Santa Ana from noon to 10 p.m. Best of all, attendance at O.C. Pride is once again completely free of charge... thanks to its sponsors and organizers.

"Orange County is a place where it can be a struggle to be out and proud," according to Anna Barvir-Boone, the recently- appointed President of Orange County LGBT Pride."But it is also a place with a vibrant and passionate LGBT community that comes together to celebrate our victories, mourn our losses and work toward greater equality."

In addition to headliner Ana Gasteyer, artists scheduled to appear on the Main Stage this year include "American Girl" singer-songwriter and Katy Perry collaborator Bonnie McKee, Charmaine, Retro Soul, The Davids, Katja Glieson, Ray Isaac and Lunden Reign. Serving as Main Stage hosts are local drag icons Momma, Samantha Starr, Mozie Pornwood and Kristie Champagne.

The award-winning documentary "Bridegroom" will screen at 12 p.m. as part of the fest's Rainbow Symposium, and will be immediately followed by a discussion with one of its subjects and producers, Shane Bitney Crone. A number of hot DJs, Richard "Humpty" Vission among them, will be spinning tunes throughout the day in the Dance Tent.

"Our entertainment lineup is as fun and well-rounded as ever," says O.C. Pride's Director of Programming, Zackery Glass. "We tried to include something for everyone's taste."

Back by popular demand this year are the Kids' Club, with games and activities for children of all ages. There is also a Beer and Wine Garden, along
with a dunk tank where attendees can take a chance at getting scantily-clad Andrew Christian models soaking wet. In fact, a second Beer & Wine Garden is being added this year as well as a more exclusive VIP Lounge.

"On Saturday, August 9, we will commemorate all those who have bravely struggled for greater equality and dignity for LGBT persons," said Barvir-Boone, "and we will celebrate just being ourselves in the heart of Orange County."
