Think of Iris House For Your Year-End Giving

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

The news from New York City is encouraging: In 2016, there were fewer new cases of HIV transmission than any year on record! We are making amazing strides in our efforts to End the Epidemic, but a gift from you will help us continue our work.

You see, for the first time in a decade, the number of new cases in women INCREASED. The number of new cases in some of New York City's poorest communities has INCREASED.

We are making strides, but much more work is needed, particularly with women and in the communities Iris House serves.

In 2016, we served 6,677 individuals, including 316 people living with HIV in our food and nutrition, housing and prevention programs.

Iris House performed 1,679 HIV tests, 224 Hepatitis C tests and more than 300 other STI tests.

We fed more than 3,400 people through our hot lunch and pantry program. We housed more than 100 people in private apartments with case management and support programs.

And we know our methods are successful: 89.6% of our HIV+ clients are virally suppressed, 5% above the citywide average.

People like you are the ones who make this possible: government contracts and grants from foundation and corporations make up most of our budget, but without individual donations we would have less food to feed our community, we would have fewer opportunities to provide prevention information to our neighbors, and we certainly wouldn't be able to provide a holiday party for the kids in our program or a family picnic at the end of each summer.

You make the difference because it's individual gifts that provide the extras: the fun, the dignity, the family supports.

2017 has been a year of change and challenge, and as it comes to a close, we ask you for a gift today so we can continue rising to the challenges and saving lives.

Thank you.
