READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Billboard is calling it this year's wildest Halloween costume. Others called it out as being in bad taste, while some defended the "Industry Baby" star for his boldness in subject matter.

"Lil Nas posted a 20-second video on his socials that opened with an image of a portal with a string hanging out of it," writes Billboard. "When the camera zoomed out, though, it revealed Nas dressed in a white wig, white tights and matching high heels topped by a white jacket stained red from the shoulders to the waist."

He was dressed as a bloody tampon.

Some on Instagram criticized Lil Nas for his insensitivity. Erika Alexander (erikaalexanderthegreat) wrote: "I gotta say, I don't think you'd want to BE a period if you could experience a period. Believe me, it ain't no walk in the park! But living through it month after month, year after year, is often a horror show! Peace!"

While Alanna Dawn (alannathedawn) saw the costume as brilliantly dealing with an embarrassing subject. "Hahaha YESSS making people deal with what they hate to acknowledge and get too embarrassed by. But it's a human thing! Deal with it!! PERIODTTTT This is spectacular. 🙌❤️"

Lil Nas X also paid tribute to one of Rock and Roll's greats - Little Richard. "He posted seven different looks to his Instagram account, with both in-feed posts and Stories," writes People Magazine.

"The Grammy winner shared an Instagram Reel to his Story, where he impersonates the famous Rock 'n Roll singer during his interview on BBC's Late Night Line-Up to promote his 1972 Wembley Stadium performance."

"Lil Nas X, 24, shared five different looks, with his photo and pics of his inspiration following. 'lil richard x... this man created rock and roll and doesn't get enough credit for it. thank u for paving the way for me in many ways little richard,' the rapper wrote. 'fly high 🕊 wooooo.'"

People adds: "The carousel of photos includes Little Richard's looks from his iconic 1956 portrait photoshoot, a photoshoot where he dazzles in white fringe, an electric red number as he performs on a London stage, his shirtless and white pant look while performing at Wembley Stadium, and a stoic portrait from the start of his career.

"Lil Nas X also shared a video recreating Little Richard's 1956 performance of 'The Girl Can't Help It,' and a photo showcasing his imitation of the singer's yellow bedazzled outfit from his 1972 Wembley Stadium performance."
